Okay, so maybe this is more of a figurative "Kiss Us" and we don't need you to follow through on that literally (a virtual or in person hug will suffice) but we are Irish gals at heart and love celebrating Saint Patrick's Day. Our family is Irish and growing up we loved celebrating the holiday with a variety of activities. Since we went to Catholic school, we would learn all about Saint Patrick and even go to mass to commemorate his feast day. (We did not wear these green wigs, though.) We are still big fans of celebrating Saint Patrick's Day, so here are a few suggestions for activities that can make this holiday special.
Bake Soda Bread!
We didn't grow up celebrating our Irishness by eating soda bread (we were snacking on plenty of other things) but we recently discovered the joys of this carbohydrate. If you want to make your own, check out this recipe from Ina Garten featured in the Food Network Magazine. It's delicious and the recipe only takes an hour and a half from start to finish. Simple enough that you can even make it even if you're a little tipsy on Irish whiskey.
New York City Saint Patrick's Day Parade!
We have had a great time in past years watching the New York City Saint Patrick's Day Parade! One year, we even got to attend in person, and it was so much fun. We wore our green wigs, dressed up, and sang in the streets. For the past two years the parade has not been in full swing because of social distancing restrictions, so this year it's going to be even more exciting now that things are up and running again.
Eat Copious Amounts of Potatoes
It's not accurate to say that all Irish people love potatoes (even though stereotypes would lead you to believe otherwise) but we sure do. Not only are they delicious, but you can eat them in a variety of ways - fried, mashed, boiled, in tater tot form...our brother even likes to eat them raw. Yes, that's a true potato fan.
Bundle Saint Patrick's Day Style!
We would love for you to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day Bundle Style! Whether you are having a small gathering with friends, celebrating virtually, or having a huge party - Bundle is here for you. We will make a game personalized to you and to your friends that will be playing - we can include all of your inside jokes, trivia, and even photos. Bonus points if the photos include you wearing green wigs.
We would love to know the ways that you are celebrating Saint Patrick's Day - for us it is often a week-long celebration. Send us your suggestions for some Irish themed fun. And as our aunt always says, "May Saint Patrick give you the green lights."
