Has it really been a year already? Married life certainly has its trials and tribulations, but the

connection between two individuals who’ve found love is always worth celebrating. Whether it’s your first, second, fifth, or fiftieth anniversary, it’s nice to mark the occasion in style.

It can be tough to know how to differentiate a wedding anniversary from a regular date. While it’s unlikely to feel as unique and special as your big day, it should still stand out from the kinds of things you might do in your day-to-day life.

Today, we’re going to assess some of the best tips to keep in mind when planning an anniversary celebration. Employ some of these to make sure your partner feels as special as possible.

Don't Repeat Dates, But Take Inspiration from Them

While it might be tempting to retrace your steps and repeat past dates, it’s impossible to ever totally recapture the magic of yesteryear. Instead, take elements from those days and incorporate it into your new celebration.

If you watched a certain movie on a previous, impactful date, take something from the film and find a way to make it part of your day. If you had a particular type of food at a fancy restaurant in the past, think about making it for your partner yourself. It’s subtle things like this which show you care, and that your history together is important to you.

Make sure your date is as Eco-friendly as your wedding

If you took particular care in ensuring your wedding had as little impact on the environment as possible, make sure to repeat this on any celebratory dates. The average wedding creates as much as £488 of food wastage at every event – while in one year alone 4,910 tons of waste was left behind at British weddings.

If this is something that was important to your partner during the original celebration, make sure you take it into account when planning. While it won’t ruin their day, it’s considerate to both them, and the world around you.

Make the date wedding-orientated

A fun way to make the date stand out is to make it wedding themed. Think about using a faux save-the-date to “invite” your partner with. Have a set menu laid out for them if you’re cooking dinner. And finish the night off by sitting down and enjoying the wedding movie of their choice. There are loads to choose between on both Amazon Prime and Netflix.

Recreate your wedding cake together

A lovely touch could be to do some joint baking. To make it mean more to both of you, consider recreating your wedding cake. While you won’t want to bake every single tier (unless you have 8-to-12 hours free), you can have a go at making a scaled down version.
